University Medical Center Board Announces Operations Review Committee

(LOUISVILLE) – The board of directors of University Medical Center, the governing entity of University of Louisville Hospital and the James Graham Brown Cancer Center, announced today the formation of an ad hoc committee to oversee an operations review of the organization.

According to Bob Rounsavall, chair of both the UMC board and the ad hoc committee, the Operations Review Committee will select and direct an expert consultant in a review of hospital operations.

During recent discussions regarding the future of University Hospital and the James Graham Brown Cancer Center, questions were raised about UMC’s strengths and vulnerabilities.  UMC is addressing these questions by initiating this operational review.  The committee’s meetings will be open, and the consultant’s report will be available to the public.

Members of the committee include Gerry Anderson, Dale Boden, Joan Coleman, Dr. David Dunn, and Charlie Johnson, all representing the UMC board.  Joining the board members will be Larry Hayes, Secretary of the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development; Ellen Hesen, Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer’s Chief of Staff; and Jim King, President of the Louisville Metro Council.

The committee plans to complete its work in April 2012.
