James Graham Brown Cancer Center Philanthropist to be Profiled
(Louisville, KY) October 16, 2008 – James Graham Brown, the businessman and philanthropist whose foundation helped fund James Graham Brown Cancer Center, will be profiled on KET2’s Louisville Life, hosted by Candyce Clifft, on Thursday, October 23, 2008, at 7:30 p.m.
James Graham Brown (August 18, 1881 – March 20, 1979) was best known for building the Brown Hotel and for his philanthropy. In 1943, he created the foundation bearing his name. Having no heirs at the time of his death, the bulk of Brown’s estimated $100 million estate was given to the James Graham Brown Foundation.
The James Graham Brown Cancer Center was established in 1980 with a $12 million gift from James Graham Brown Foundation and the citizens of Louisville. Today, it is a world-class cancer center dedicated to finding answers to cancer.
