Brown Cancer Center at 2011 St. James Court Art Fair

For the first time this year, the James Graham Brown Cancer Center is a sponsor of the St. James Court Art Fair. The Brown Cancer Center’s signature pink Mobile Mammography Unit will be located at the intersection of 4th and Magnolia Streets on Friday, Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Any woman wishing to have a screening mammogram should call the Kentucky Cancer Program at 852-6318 for an appointment. Insurance will be billed. For those without insurance and wishing to pay cash, we are offering a discounted rate of $158.65.

To be eligible for a screening mammogram, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be 40 years of age or older
  • Not have breast implants
  • Not have had a mammogram in the past 12 months
  • Not have a current breast problem
  • Not be pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have a current physician to receive the medical report

On Saturday, October 1, and Sunday, October 2, volunteers from University Hospital, the Brown Cancer Center, the Kentucky Cancer Program and the community will be on hand to pass out materials and talk about cancer-related issues to interested patrons.

In addition, lung cancer survivor, official St. James Court Art Fair framer and star of our latest commercial Nancy Alvey will be available in the morning to speak to guests about cancer survival, prevention and advocacy.
