Visitors

Visiting PatientsGenerally, patients can have visitors between 11:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. seven days a week. However, please be aware that visitor hours may be different in some patient units. Please ask at the nursing station about the visiting hours in the unit you wish to visit.

We ask that the number of visitors be limited and the length of their stay moderated according to the patient's condition. With certain exceptions, children may visit. Visits with children under 14 years of age must be arranged with the unit charge nurse.

Patients may request that a "No Visitors" sign be posted. Other patients may require isolation, and will have special instructions will be placed on the door. Please abide by patient room postings when visiting University Hospital.

In intensive care units, visiting hours are based on the needs of the patient. Please direct any questions you may have about visiting hours or visitor policies to the unit's nursing staff.

Visitor Meals

Visiting PatientsVisitors may choose from a variety of in-house dining options.

Family and friends can order a meal to eat with a patient in the patient’s room. Guest meals are available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and are served with the patient's tray. Meals must be ordered and paid for in advance at the Cashier's Office. Guest trays are delivered at the same time as patient trays.

Cafeteria

The Patio Café is in the lower level of the Ambulatory Care Building, across the street from the hospital. Hours are Monday-Friday:

Breakfast, 6:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Lunch, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Dinner, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The Cardinal Court

The Cardinal Court, located across from the Patio Café, is open seven days a week, Monday - Sunday. It serves a variety of breakfast foods, sandwiches and hamburgers. The Cardinal Court operates on extended hours, shutting down from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 2:30 a.m. – 3:00 a.m.

Hours are:

3:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
11:00 a.m. – 2:30 a.m.

Mail and Flowers

Visiting PatientsMail is delivered to the patient bedside at least once each day. After discharge, mail is forwarded to the patient’s home address.

Flowers may be delivered to patient rooms daily. For health reasons, flowers are not permitted in intensive care units or in the Burn Unit.
