Education at the Trauma Institute
Education is a key part of the University Hospital mission. The Trauma Institute at University Hospital leads the educational component of the hospital’s trauma service.
In addition to training tomorrow’s leading trauma physicians through its residency programs, the Trauma Institute and Burn Unit staff facilitate both community and professional educational programs:
- Risky Business – a teen drunk-driving prevention program
- Straight Talk – a juvenile arson program
- Extreme Skate Park Safety Program – in conjunction with Kosair Children’s Hospital
- Burn prevention and treatment – for community organizations, schools and companies
- EMS Pre-Hospital Burns Program – for statewide first responders
- Advances Trauma Life Support (ATLS) – for health care professionals
- Advances Burn Life Support (ABLS) – for health care professionals
