First Aid Tips for Burns
  • Keep the burned area cool. Running cool water over the burn for about ten minutes is the most effective method.
  • Try to remove all burned clothing from the victim. Use extreme caution as the clothing may be stuck to the skin.
  • Cover the burn with a clean, sterile dressing.
  • Never use butter or grease on a blister or burn.
  • Do not pop blisters. A popped blister will allow germs to enter.
  • If the burn is serious, call for help immediately. In case of shock, cover the victim with a dry blanket in order to maintain a normal body temperature.

In case you catch fire...

Stop – do not run

Drop – get down on the ground

Roll – cover your face and hands, and roll back and forth
