Internship Program

CPE intern units are offered three times per year during the spring, summer and fall.  Each unit provides at least 400 supervised hours of training, which include clinical hours as well as structured educational groups.  Individual and group supervision provide opportunities to reflect upon and learn from clinical experience, to develop spiritual care giving skills, and learn about research in the field of spirituality, medicine, and the behavioral sciences.  Certified ACPE supervisors and an interdisciplinary adjunct faculty provide clinical supervision and instruction.

During the spring and fall, CPE units are scheduled for sixteen weeks and require a time investment of 25 hours per week on site.  The summer CPE unit is scheduled for eleven weeks and requires a fulltime (40 hours) commitment per week.  Tuition for one unit is $700.00 and students will receive a stipend of $500.00 upon successful completion of a unit of CPE.  Admission to CPE requires a completed CPE application and an admission interview scheduled after the application is received.  A $50.00 application fee is due when the application is received and will be applied to the tuition if the applicant is accepted into the program.  UofL Health Care has a rolling deadline for application to the CPE internship program.
