Breast Care
U of L Health Care mammography services include the most advanced imaging equipment available in the world – both at the hospital and in the programs Mobile Mammography Unit. Most insurance carriers cover annual mammograms starting at age 40. In some cases, a breast MRI is recommended.
If a mammogram comes back showing a tumor, patients may be comforted knowing that the team at U of L Health Care is one of the only specialized breast cancer teams in the country.
U of L Health Care’s James Graham Brown Cancer Center is home to a multidisciplinary breast cancer clinic that has become a national model. The team of surgeons, oncologists, radiation oncologists and nurses develop a unique care plan for each patient. That plan may include treatments offered through the Brown Cancer Center’s outpatients clinics, or in University Hospital’s dedicated oncology wings.
