Comprehensive Epilepsy Center

Epilepsy Care Program Epilepsy is the third most common neurological disorder in the United States after Alzheimer's disease and stroke. It is equal in prevalence to cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease combined.

Of the 2.7 million Americans diagnosed with a seizure disorder, between 30 and 40 percent have seizures that are not well controlled by medication.

The Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at University Hospital is a referral center for patients whose seizures are difficult to control.

The University Hospital program has been certified a Level IV center - the highest level available - by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers. The Level IV Center features:
