University Hospital maintains one of the largest certified Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) in the region, providing superior care for premature and seriously ill infants.

Accompanied by Level II and well-baby nurseries, each nursery equipped with latest equipment and knowledgeable staff to care for the tiniest of patients.

U of L neonatology specialists participate in a state supported High Risk Infant Follow-up Program which follows the most critically ill and tiniest premature babies up to eight years to help support the pediatrician's primary care.
